They're meant to be shared with our loved ones to commemorate significant events and experiences in our lives. They provide a pleasant break from the routine of our daily lives, as well as incentive to reflect on the important events and moments in our lives that have passed.
The focus of the festivity is on the Ilocano children. It's because Ilocano culture isn't well-known among the province's younger generations. Instead, a greater emphasis is placed on current dances. The Kannawidan Ylocos Festival commemorates the division of the two Ilocos provinces, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte. It features local products that Ilocos Sur is proud of, as well as distinct customs and traditions, particularly the Ilocanos' deep-rooted religiosity.
